About Hannah Alley — Senior Luxury Brand & Marketing Strategist | Fractional CMO | Boutique Consultancy

For brands that insist on intelligence over noise, depth over distraction, and strategy over improvisation.

Senior strategist, fractional CMO, and consultant with over a decade in luxury, fashion, retail and cultural marketing.

Luxury Brand Strategy. Retail Intelligence. Commercial Precision.

I'm Hannah Alley,

a London-based senior luxury brand strategist and fractional CMO working across fashion, fine jewellery, beauty, interiors and premium service brands.

For more than a decade, I have operated inside complex luxury ecosystems, from distributor and manufacturer environments, designer eyewear designers to agency, global fragrance groups and ultimately Selfridges Oxford Street HQ, where I led marketing strategy across Fashion, Fine Jewellery, Watches, Accessories and Leather Goods.

My work sits at the intersection of brand architecture, retail growth and commercial governance, ensuring that creative ambition is supported by structural clarity.

From Editorial Foundations to Commercial Leadership

I began my career not in a boardroom, but as a writer.

As a columnist and contributing editor for British atelier Maggie Semple and later Semple Magazine, I shaped fashion commentary and brand voice read by over one million global readers. That discipline — clarity of language, narrative hierarchy, cultural fluency — became the foundation of how I approach strategy today.

From there, I moved into global luxury eyewear at De Rigo, overseeing marketing for more than twelve designer licences including Mulberry, Chopard and Nina Ricci, rising to Marketing Manager at 21 and leading the UK subsidiary’s full marketing remit, including launching Mulberry eyewear to the UK for the first time ever. I worked directly with Italian headquarters, managed several million pound budgets ATL & BTL, presented to global boards, travelled across Europe for collection selection and managed trade exhibitions and multi-brand launches.

This early exposure to licensing, distribution, wholesale and trade marketing gave me an unusually deep understanding of retail infrastructure and margin logic.

I later expanded into fragrance at Designer Parfums, managing multimillion-pound budgets across global brands including Ariana Grande, Ghost and MCM, before moving agency-side to refine my digital, performance and integrated strategy capabilities. I then moved on to a senior role at a fully integrated marketing agency.

Selfridges HQ: Retail at Scale

Most recently, as Marketing Manager of Fashion, Accessories, Shoes, Fine & Fashion Jewellery & Watches at Selfridges Oxford Street, I led strategy across brand partnerships, experiential retail, digital, CRM and seasonal campaign architecture for globally recognised maisons and high-growth independent brands alike.

My remit included:

• Ownership of multimillion-pound integrated marketing budgets

• Delivery of 360° campaign architecture across retail, OOH, digital and experiential

• Generation of multi-millions in incremental partnership revenue

• Governance of cross-functional marketing execution

• Negotiation and structuring of commercial brand agreements

• VIP & VVVIP programme & magazine & gift guide integration and elite clienteling strategy

I led and oversaw flagship experiential projects including Tiffany & Co., Gucci, Celine, TASAKI, Christian Louboutin and more.

These were not simply aesthetic moments.

They were commercially accountable growth drivers.

A 360° Luxury Ecosystem Perspective

Few strategists have worked across:

Distributor & manufacturer environments

Global designer eyewear & fragrance groups

Agency

Trade marketing

B2B wholesale

DTC & retail

Experiential & OOH

CRM & retention

Board-level reporting and budget governance

I have, and so that breadth informs how I now operate as a luxury brand strategy consultant and fractional CMO in the UK — bringing structure to growth across positioning, partnerships, revenue modelling and marketing performance infrastructure.

My Philosophy

Luxury is not loud. It is precise.

True brand strength does not come from visibility alone, but from coherence – narrative, margin, distribution and experience working in concert.

I believe exceptional luxury marketing:

• Begins with brand architecture and audience intelligence

• Protects desirability while scaling revenue

• Aligns creative direction with commercial modelling

• Uses governance and KPI clarity as strategic tools

• Builds lifetime value, not momentary attention

Clarity convinces.

Structure sustains.

Precision scales.

What I Bring

As a London luxury marketing consultant and fractional CMO, my work spans:

  • Luxury brand positioning & architecture
  • Audience segmentation & UHNW frameworks
  • Retail & wholesale growth strategy (UK & international)
  • Brand partnerships & revenue model structuring
  • Budget ownership & commercial forecasting
  • KPI infrastructure & board-level reporting cadence
  • Experiential & 360° campaign architecture
  • CRM, retention & lifetime value strategy
  • Founder positioning & personal brand architecture

Whether supporting a heritage maison, an emerging designer, a high-end retailer or a UHNW-facing founder, I operate as a calm, commercially fluent partner embedded within the leadership team.

A Rare Combination

Editorial Intelligence

Brand voice expertise from years in luxury editorial writing. From my earliest years as a writer through to senior brand storytelling.

Cultural instinct shaped by a decade in fashion and design.

Retail & Real‑World Activation

Retail growth insight from years inside luxury, including Selfridges HQ and over a decade owning multimillion‑pound integrated campaigns, iconic windows, experiential projects, retail partnerships, CRM and digital strategy.

Agency & Strategic Leadership

Strategic rigour from global beauty, fashion and eyewear groups. Global campaign frameworks, pitch decks, category launches and partner ecosystems.

Commercial Precision

I’ve managed £7M+ budgets and personally delivered several million in revenue across brand campaigns. Systems that drive revenue, not just visibility, from UHNW audience loyalty loops to seasonal GTM structures.

I understand what resonates with influential consumers, discerning buyers and elite clientele, because I’ve built strategies that win their attention.

"Hannah took a collaborative approach and consistently delivered thoughtful, well-considered responses to our marketing briefs. She was communicative, creative and easy to work with throughout our partnership."

Writing & Editorial Expertise

Writing is not an add‑on for me, it’s foundational.

I began my career as a fashion and lifestyle writer, shaping cultural commentary, trend essays, brand voice and editorial for ateliers and major publishers. My writing has appeared in Semple Magazine, British Airways High Life, and global commerce platforms like Lyst.com, infusing luxury narratives with emotional intelligence, clarity and craft. I have also worked closely with luxury retailers’ Brand Voice and Copy teams, seeing first-hand the best-in-class editorial, luxury & fashion shape of voice.

I continue to develop website copy, campaign narratives, SEO brand storytelling and thought leadership for founders and premium brands across the UK and internationally.

Narrative is not decoration.

It is commercial infrastructure.

Today

Through Hannah Alley Consulting, I work with brands who want more than “more marketing.”

They want structure.
